Typefaces

All typefaces must be included/attached. Make sure that all typefaces have been included when using PDF files.

Look out for "artificial" italics and bold. Do not utilize any layout program functionality for turning typefaces into derived variants (bold, italics, outline, shadow, or similar). Always use font families where the different variants (bold, italics, outline, etc.) are available as typefaces.

Use Type 1 PostScript fonts or Open Type. Alternatively, we can also use True Type.

Colours

Check that Photoshop, Illustrator and other programs do not utilize the preset "American" colour definitions (SWOP), as this may lead to incorrect colour reproduction.

      • CMYK.
      •  As a rule of thumb, only use CMYK colours in your document. Any other colour definition must be converted to CMYK, even RGB, unless other arrangements have been made. DGJ is not liable for any colour conversion as this takes place automatically. Define and name spot colours exactly the same way in images, illustrations, and document.
      • Remove any colours that are not to be used in the document.
      • If the document has any Pantone colours that are to be printed as CMYK, they must be converted into CMYK.
      • When printing with only a few colours, please check on your own printer that all objects are included in the separations.
      • Office programs normally use display colours (RGB). Printing requires these display colours to be converted into CMYK. Some display colours do not convert properly into printing colours and may change their appearance.

Remember a proofing print of the project before final production to enable colour check.
