Individual shapes in runs of just one copy and contour cutting from several media types
As a consequence of the need for individual shapes on solutions in small runs and large formats, we have installed a digital cutting and milling machine. The machine cuts items printed to any conceivable shape.
The machine can work with several cutting heads at one time, which means cutting and creasing in one work process. This makes it the obvious choice for sales displays, presentation binders in small runs, or packaging models.
Information on proper file configurations for digital contour cutting and creases
Cutting lines are to be defined as a spot colour and named "Kiss cut" in a separate layer that is also to be named "Kiss cut" (if possible, preferably as fill – not stroke).
Folding lines are to be defined as a spot colour and named "Crease" in a separate layer that is also to be named "Crease".
It goes for both types that the fewer nodes the better. Use connected nodes to the widest possible extent.
The layers with creases and cutting lines must be placed to the back of the file, so they are not visible. Their colour may also be defined as C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:0. Also, the layers must be active (on).
